Imagine walking along crowded cobbled streets and coming to rest in a packed town square, only to find you’ve unknowingly landed yourself in the centre of a flash mob who are about to perform.
That is what happened to a bunch of unsuspecting tourists who were unexpectedly treated to an incredible rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, thanks to a very talented flash mob.
A six-minute clip was shared on Facebook by Superstar Magazine, showing the performance from start to finish, as it begins with one man, seemingly a busker, playing his guitar before two recorder players join in.
Then a woman, with an incredible voice, sings the first lines of the song: “There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold and she’s buying the stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed, with a word she can get what she came for. And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.”
The vocalist is then joined by a man who sings the next verse, before a full band complete with keyboard, guitarist, electric guitarist and drummer seem to appear from nowhere.
The incredible video was originally shared by German broadcaster Südwestrundfunk and has been watched almost 150,000 times since it was shared just one week ago and more than 4,500 people have commented.
Many people piled praise onto the performers, thanking them for “uniting” people.
One wrote: “This is how to unite the world. One of my favourites songs. Enjoyed by everyone, lots of smiling faces and good vibrations.”
Another said: “This is beautifully done, and is done in an amazing venue… I absolutely love flash mobs, there is something so winsome, charming, and life-affirming about them… people are so lovely and gifted when at their very best, as in this wonderful video.”
