Welcome to Nostalgia Monday … well, there is actually no such day but with these wonderful re-releases in my hand, I think there should be!

Hachette Australia has reissued two of the Enid Blyton favourites from days gone by – I remember reading them and wishing so hard I could go to boarding school, it sounded like such fun. Did you read these as a youngster?

Between 1941 and 1946, Enid Blyton wrote six novels set at St Clare’s. Schooldays at St Clare’s are never dull for twins Pat and Isabel O’Sullivan.

In book one, the twins find life at St Clare’s is not as easy as they thought. They have several surprises and arguments before they admit their troubles are of their own making, and settle down to make friends.

Full of adventure, fun and mischief, expect mischief at St Clare’s!

Having finished one series, between 1946 and 1951, Enid Blyton wrote six novels set at Malory Towers, another school series combining everything that makes school so special – friendships, learning, sports, plays and mischief!

For new girl Darrell Rivers, there are friends to be made, pranks to be played and fun to be had at Malory Towers. In book one, Darrell is the new girl and two terms behind her classmates. She feels out of place and alone.

Soon, however, Darrell makes friends as well as enemies as they induct new students, win and lose sporting matches and play tricks on teachers. Expect drama at Malory Towers!

These new editions of Malory Towers and St Clare’s feature the original text and are unillustrated.

I recently heard one of our community say in relation to a reissue of a popular series from our childhood, “Forget the kids, this is a gift for Grandma”.

So tell me, will you buy these new releases of our old favourites for yourself or for the grandkids?

Both Enid Blyton series are published by Hachette Australia and are available from Dymocks.
