The life hack that will make peeling eggs a breeze

At some point we’ve all gone to make boiled eggs and in our frustration of peeling the shells, managed to mess up our meal.

Either that – or someone’s ended up with a bit of shell in their mouth!

So, what if there was a way to make peeling hard boiled eggs easier?

Well, it turns out there is.

No doubt you’ve read some of the life hacks suggesting you use everything from a glass of water to a slice of lemon.

But there is also another way.

Try adding some baking soda to the water when you boil the eggs!

That’s right – the baking soda apparently boosts the pH level of the eggs making them easier to peel.

This is particularly handy when dealing with fresh eggs, which are traditionally more acidic than older eggs.

Add half a teaspoon to a teaspoon of baking soda to the pot of boiling water.

Once you’ve boiled the eggs, drained them and let them cool, it’s time to peel them.

The shell should come away in large pieces easily, saving you the hassle of painstakingly peeling tiny pieces of shell away at a time.

The beauty of this life hack is it adds no extra time to the process of boiling your eggs, although there are some people out there who swear the baking soda adds to the sulphur level of the eggs and gives them a more ‘eggy’ taste.
