Three-ingredient potato galette

The best side dish to complement a main meal!

This incredibly easy dish can be made with just three ingredients that you most likely already have lying around in your kitchen. It’s the perfect side dish to complement any main meal with it’s simple yet mouthwatering flavour. Use this recipe as a tasty alternative to the well-known side dishes of creamed or mashed potatoes. If you want to add some greens to your plate, this goes perfectly with steamed vegetables or a light garden salad as you don’t want anything to interfere with the delicious flavour of the cheesy potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 60g butter, melted
  • 1kg desiree potatoes, unpeeled, thinly sliced
  • 50g parmesan cheese, finely grated

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200C. Brush a 20cm (base) round springform pan with butter. Place pan on baking tray.
  2. Line potato slices over base of pan, overlapping slightly. Brush with butter. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons cheese over the top and season with salt and pepper. Repeat layers 4 times to make a total 5 layers.
  3. Bake, uncovered, for 50 to 55 minutes or until golden and potatoes are tender when tested with a skewer. Let cool for for 5 minutes. Release pan and slide galette onto a serving plate. Cut into wedges. Serve with roast chicken or grilled fish.
