It's fair to say the '70s was a fun era filled with groovy trends!
There was no running water, no toilets, and only a small fireplace.
We laughed the whole time, giggling as we stumbled home on the rocky path, danced at the caves disco, and sat in the bar, or watched people on the beach. Anything else that happened stays in Mahon, forever our secret, but it was harmless fun really.
"I was excited as I pictured myself with a lovely stylish cut, just like my mates at school had."
Often too hot to touch, but always enticing, the old fuel stove was the heart of many homes.
"The occasion got me thinking about how lucky I am, how happy I am."
'I glanced at the office, hoping everyone had forgotten about my ungainly exit and got on with their business, but to my horror Lyn was at the open door wildly gesticulating and shouting something I couldn’t hear but it appeared to be directed at me.'
"I was more interested in getting out into the ‘real’ world, the world of commerce and industry so, I signed up for the college’s design, lettering and illustration NDD course for two years."
A lot of people struggle to talk of their achievements, but Jacqui Lee is proud of the successes she's had.
"I'm gonna knock on your door, ring on your bell..."
