About Meg Heffron

Meg is the managing director of specialist self-managed super fund (SMSF) advisory firm Heffron. She is one of the few actuaries to work in all areas of SMSF practice, having worked exclusively in SMSFs since 1998.  Meg’s passion is using her technical knowledge on SMSFs to provide practical solutions for accountants and advisers to help their clients and grow their businesses, and tangible expertise for trustees. Meg was a founding member of the Actuaries Institute’s self-managed superannuation committee and is a regular speaker at professional development events for accountants, lawyers and financial planners.  She co-founded Heffron with husband Martin Heffron more than 20 years ago, after the couple chucked in their jobs to drive around Australia in a Landcruiser Troop Carrier. “We came up with our business plan on that trip,” Meg says. “We wanted a country lifestyle with the benefits of the city, and Maitland fit the bill perfectly.” Heffron now has about 80 employees in offices in Maitland, Brisbane, Sydney and Tamworth. It also partners with Six Park (home of Ted Richards, Starts at 60’s affordable investment pro) in offering an end-to-end SMSF admin and investment management service.
