Pauline Hanson backflips on major policy

Pauline Hanson has done a political backflip on her stance on weekend penalty rate changes purposed by the Fair Work Commission.

The One Nation leader took to her official Facebook page to explain that it was her supporters that made her reevaluate her position.  Ms Hanson said, “Let me make it quite clear. After listening to people coming through my office, and on the streets, and back home over the weekend in the lead up to this, generally the majority of people do not want a cut to penalty rates,” she said. “You’ve got my support. I’ve listened, and this is what you want, and I will not support any cut to penalty rates.”

Ms Hanson admitted that she was “surprised” by the Fair Work Commission decision to cut penalty rates and that she may have rushed to decide on it.  She continued, “Times have changed, and I can understand small businesses are doing it hard but believe me I had nothing to do with the Fair Work Commission, I had no input into cutting wages back”.

The change of stance has been welcomed by her supporters as they flocked to her Facebook to share their support.  One user named Handy Leigh posted, “Never forget the people and they will not forget you – never attack their income but support them and encourage small business”.  While another user Marina Jarron posted “Good for you Pauline. In my reply to Neil Davidson below I stated my husband and I own a small business. The hoops we have had to jump through are unbelievable, and the tax bill at the end of the day was horrendous for two people just trying to make an income. There has to be a better way.”

What do you think about Pauline Hanson’s change of heart? Do you think that she’s listening to her supporters or pandering after the results of the WA elections?
